Home sweet home

Beekeeper John’s lovely bees range across Devon hedgerows, woods and gardens, organic farmland and the lush valleys of the Dart and Teign.

Making a beeline for the autumn ivy blossom

Last October the ivy came into flower in Dartington, and the bees were all over the pollen. It’s a late crop that helps keep them fed through the winter. Watch them bring it in!

Beekeeper John’s bees stock up on ivy pollen

Beekeeper John’s bees feast on lavender, borage, rape, dandelion, lime flowers, chicory, sunflowers and a host of other bee-friendly plants.

We can’t track everywhere they go, but having apiaries on organic and biodynamic farms and land that doesn’t use nasty chemicals provides a really great start for them.
